Women’s Campaign International was founded in 1998 by former Pennsylvania Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies. In 1995, Ms. Margolies led the United States Delegation to the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women. At the conference, 189 countries signed a Platform for Action that pledged to further the rights of women around the world. Inspired by these commitments, Ms. Margolies founded WCI with the help of Fredrica S. Friedman to empower women to achieve these rights. WCI’s programs help women find their voices by giving them tangible skills in political leadership, conflict mitigation, economic empowerment and civic engagement. WCI works with political, business and civil society leaders and organizations to ensure that women have an opportunity to participate in the development of public policy, placing women’s issues on local, national and regional agendas.
